Family Support Center of South Sound is proud of its newest project, The Landing - an affordable housing development that is providing 62 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments for families with children and survivors in our community. That is safe and stable housing for over 200 people each year!
Each unit has an open-living concept, spacious closets, and brand new appliances. Residents can rest easy knowing they are in a secure building with extra safety features. There is plenty of parking and a bus stop right in front of the building for easy access to public transportation. A case manager is available during business hours to help families with anything from filling out a job application to navigating transportation issues or connecting them to community resources.
One of the hallmarks of all of Family Support Center’s buildings’ is that they are warm and welcoming. The Landing is no different! It is full of color, local art, and special features like the reading nooks and sensory elements provided by Sensory Tool House. The Landing is meant to provide not just a home, but also a space for people to come together and create community. There is a large community room where tenants can host parties, residents can hold building wide meeting and events, and staff and community partners can host workshops and share information about resources, services, and programs. The Community Room opens onto a large outdoor area with a covered patio, play area, and community garden space.
Community Support Matters! Speaking of community, this project would not be possible without several key partners - . So many others helped make this dream possible – Sensory Tool House, Thurston County Public Health and Social Services, the Housing Authority of Thurston County, FSC staff who are working hard to make sure The Landing is full, featured artist, Irisa Kennedy and the Adopt an Artist program, and so many others!

We’re proud to be a recipient of grant funding from PSE’s Green Power and Solar Choice program to support the installation of a 50.20 kW solar array on The Landing! As a recipient of the grant, we’re aligned with PSE in supporting the expansion of cleaner energy for a healthier environment, lowering energy-related operating costs, and making the push to a more inclusive clean energy future. We appreciate our long-time partner, Puget Sound Energy!
The Future of The Landing: There are plans in the works to build another building at The Landing that could provide upwards of 70 more units of affordable housing, but those are a ways off yet. We will be sure to keep our community updated! Until then, you can follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date on what Family Support Center is doing! Interested in a tour of our main facility? Contact maijag@fscss.org.
Interested in living at The Landing: The Landing does not have an open application process. Households are placed directly off of the Thurston County Coordinated Entry Housing List.
Eligible households include those who are actively experiencing homelessness under HUD’s category 1 or 4 AND have income at or below 50%AMI. When there are openings, we will market it widely with community providers and on our website. Households who meet the base eligibility (homeless & income below 50%) should complete a Coordinated Entry intake with FSC. To learn more about Coordinated Entry, CLICK HERE.
