Family Support Center offers parenting support and workshops for families in the South Sound. The Parent and Child Education program is designed to empower and equip parents with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges of raising children. Our program is guided by the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework: Parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, and social and emotional competence of children.
The Parent and Child Education Program offers a range of FREE workshops, groups, and services for parents in the South Sound region including:
Infant Feeding and Postpartum Support Group
Weekly on Thursdays between 10:15am-11:45am at the Hands on Children's Museum!
Come as you are to our free infant feeding and postpartum support group designed to help parents feel confident and connected to a community. Drop in at any time!
No registration or HOCM membership required.

POWER PARENTING WORKSHOPS
PowerParenting is now ONLINE! Join us from 6:00pm-7:30pm via Zoom on the 2nd Tuesday of the month!
Based on the internationally acclaimed, Nurturing Parenting Program. All classes are free and everyone is welcome! We address the needs of the families attending including special needs, neurodiversity, gender, and ages.

April 14th, 2026 - Nighttime Parenting and Sleep: Who’s getting sleep and how to make sure everyone gets enough. From infants to teens how does everybody get the sleep they need? Parenting doesn’t magically end between 8pm and 7am. Find solutions to night time difficulties with the demands of working, childcare, school, meals etc.
May 12th, 2026 - Consequences, The Myth of Being in Control: As parents we often feel if we could just find the right consequence, reward or punishment we could regain control and peace in our home. We will discuss effectiveness and pitfalls of consequences and rewards and alternatives that will work for your family.
June 9th, 2026 - Food, Power Struggles, and Nutrition: Do you just want meal time to be relaxing but it seems to be torture for you or your child? How do you and your child come to common ground so both feel respected and meal times are not battlegrounds? Need tips on healthy food choices and how to encourage them? Come join us to explore all these issues and clarify your family’s values about food.
